Our January 2009 Truthaction was a huge success, despite the cold!

Greetings from Ottawa. Yes, it was cold again, but not as bad as last month.

We had guest animals this month!

We chose the CBC Radio on Sparks Street for this month’s action

Over 400 discs given out today. We also moved to 4 separate locations

December 11, 2008 – 6:00 PM – Rideau Centre
-13 C (Feels like -20 C)

Believe me, it felt like -20

A full on city bus strike was happening so our location (one of the central bus stops in the city) turned out not to be as sweet as before. Nevertheless, six of us braved the cold and the wind with 500 DVDs. The bag at my feet is my ‘Bounce Prize Pack’ that I won from CTV’s A-Channel.

Gotta love the signs.

This girl is homeless and was sitting on the ground hoping for money. I didn’t bring any with me, so I gave her a disc saying ‘give it to the next person that gives you money after we’re gone’. She was reading the information card while we did our action so she may hang onto it. She received a few bucks from people, so I’m hoping she found a place to sleep. It was still pretty sad to see though.

Tyrone actually had his 9/11 shirt over his coat so no, he’s not a crazy Canadian walking around in a tee shirt in minus 20 weather.

James rode a bike for over 2 hours from the other side of town just to join us tonight. THIS is why we make sure we’re at the location we post and why we never miss a month. Way to go James. That’s true dedication and it’s greatly appreciated by all of us.

Here we go. Our busiest truthaction ever!

A BIG thanks to our anonymous donors! Two guys saw our video last month on YouTube and showed up with 400 blank DVDs for us!!

We have enough discs for the next 2 months so that’s excellent. It’s working!

The day started with ice pellets coming down. By the time we got out on the streets it had turned to rain. Very chilly, but a great action all in all with 3 new activists joining us.

300 discs and 300+ fliers gone in just over an hour

Many thanks to Vic for this video. He came out and took pics while we did our thing. While it’s still cold and wet outside, the weather’s looking a lot better. This month we were in front of the Rideau Centre. 300 discs & 400 fliers all in 1 hour.
