On February 16th, 2008, the Canadian Action Party organized nationwide protests in opposition to the Security and Prosperity Partnership agreement between Canada, the United States and Mexico. This is a summary of the protest on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
Michel (Mike) St-Onge profile
I was born in a French middle class household in the outskirts of Sudbury, Ontario on August 17, 1977. My father was an electrician and worked at the mine there most of my life and my mother worked and still works as a public servant. I grew-up with an older sister and had what some would call “a normal” childhood.
For those interested in my education, I successfully graduated from L’École Secondaire MacDonald Cartier in 1997 and attended Canador College that same year, but I did not complete my studies.
In 1998, I moved to Ottawa to start working in the booming market of call-centres. It was easy for me to find work there being that I am bilingual. I’ve worked for the big telecoms and the little charities (Cerebral Palsy). I now work for a federal government information line, where I help and talk to Canadians from around the world.
My interests in politics started about a year ago, when a friend of mine sent me a link to a video documentary on the Internet, which discussed the events of 9/11. This was the first big eye-opener for me. Other video-documentaries followed which discussed all aspects of the corruption of the US government, in terms of their policies, covers-ups and misuse of their Federal Reserve.
My information about Canada’s involvement in the “grand-scheme of things” came later in the form of an Internet video of Connie Fogal for the Canadian Action Party. I was very inspired to learn that here was finally a Canadian within the political circle that knew the ins and outs of Canadian Politics but not only that, and that she agreed with me… on a number of things. * Connie and CAP believe that the events of 9/11 need to be re-examined; * Connie and CAP believe that NAFTA was one of the greatest injustices ever inflicted on Canadians without so much as a referendum; * Connie and CAP believe that there is a North American Union in the works, code named Globalization, and our government is hiding its progress from us.
After hours of research on CAP, I came to the conclusion that this party should be in power. “Why?” you ask. Well, because of their common sense approach to the problems facing us today and also because they have a platform which touches on all federal government issues that should be at the forefront of all Canadians. By making more and proper use of the Bank of Canada, Federal, Provincial and municipal governments could borrow money at near zero percent interest making it possible to fund many of the projects that will be needed to save the environment, create jobs and to fund our military. Currently our governments are struggling to pay just the interest from borrowing from Chartered Banks. This policy needs to be changed!
Meanwhile, I see a strong Canada being taken over by the American Government. Our sovereignty is slipping away from us. Programs funded by the USA like NorthCom and Norad are supposed to be keeping us Canadians safe, yet this is a clear invasion of our borders and sovereignty. Canadians should be defending Canada, not Americans. What we are seeing is a slow take-over by the USA into Canada. The eventual result will be a North American Union
Folks, the policies of our current government need to be reviewed, renewed, and revamped. The issues facing young Canadians will not, nay CANNOT be ignored! It’s OUR future at stake!! I want to run in the next federal elections so that enlightened Canadians can have a choice come election time to save Canada from Corporate America. I think we can all agree that we are tired of seeing our Tim Horton’s and Hudson Bay’s and our other Canadian symbols sold off to the highest American Bidder and we’re tired of having our agriculture suffer under NAFTA and we’re tired of our Government making choices that do not reflect our opinions. We are Canadians, and we have guts! We are tough! We can make a difference, but first Canadians need to know CAP exists and that they DO NOT need to waste their vote again by voting Liberal or Conservative. CAP can make a difference!
